(FOR MY FUTURE MENTOR)
PORTFOLIO ONLY
Hi, I'm Luz.
I've always loved communication through art. Growing up, drawing became one of the ways I processed the world around me. It allowed me to explore ideas, emotions, stories, and experiences that were sometimes difficult to put into words. That passion eventually led me to pursue Graphic Design, where I learned how visual storytelling can connect people and bring ideas to life. While I enjoy creating my own artwork, what brings me the most fulfillment is helping someone else bring their vision into the world. I believe art has the power to preserve memories, celebrate identity, and create connection between people. That is what draws me to tattooing. To me, tattooing is the perfect balance of art, trust, storytelling, and human connection. Every tattoo represents a piece of someone's life, and I am pursuing an apprenticeship because I want to learn how to honor that responsibility while developing my skills as an artist.
✦Why do you want to become a tattoo artist?✦
I've always been fascinated by the way art allows people to communicate things that can be difficult to explain through words alone. Whether it's a memory, a loved one, a personal struggle, a joke between friends, or simply something beautiful, tattoos allow people to carry those stories with them every day. As an artist, my goal has always been to help bring other people's visions to life. Tattooing feels like the most meaningful way to do that because the artwork becomes part of someone's journey.
✦Why are you seeking an apprenticeship?✦
I want to learn tattooing the right way. While artistic ability is important, I understand that tattooing requires technical knowledge, discipline, safety practices, professionalism, and respect for the craft. I am seeking mentorship because I want to learn from experienced artists and build a strong foundation for a long term career and build community.
✦What styles interest you most?✦
I am primarily drawn to blackwork, illustrative tattooing, surrealism, ornamental design, and stipple shading. I enjoy artwork that feels emotional, symbolic, detailed, and story driven. While these styles inspire me the most, I am excited to learn from a variety of artistic approaches and continue growing as an artist.
✦How do you handle feedback and criticism?✦
I view feedback as an opportunity to grow. I believe there is always something new to learn, and I value being corrected when it helps me improve. I understand that mastery comes from practice, patience, and remaining open to guidance from those with more experience.
✦What would make you a good apprentice?✦
I am hardworking, dependable, curious, and genuinely passionate about learning. I am not looking for shortcuts. I understand that becoming a tattoo artist requires dedication and consistency, and I am prepared to invest the time and effort necessary to develop both my artistic and professional skills.
✦What are your long term goals?✦
My goal is to build a career creating meaningful artwork that connects with people. I hope to continue growing as both a tattoo artist and illustrator, contribute positively to the tattoo community, and one day share what I have learned with other artists who are beginning their own journeys. I believe in the human potential to achieve incredible things, and I hope my work can encourage others to express themselves, tell their stories, and feel seen.
✦ A Little About Me ✦
Outside of art, I enjoy storytelling, worldbuilding, comics, design, and observing the small details that make everyday life feel meaningful.
I find inspiration everywhere from conversations with people to quiet moments, music, architecture, and the emotions attached to ordinary experiences. I believe some of the best art comes from paying attention.
